Every event, readable at a glance.

Each event carries a five-position ESC code — who did what, in which domain, against what target, and in what state. The code drives the marker directly: colour, shape, modifier, glyph, and status indicator compose into a single symbol that reads the same on the globe, in a report, and in a briefing slide.

01 — Worked example

The ESC code — Event Symbology Code — has five positions: actor, event type, domain, target, and status. Each position is a single character from a controlled set, and each contributes one visual layer of the map marker. Anything the system cannot resolve renders as a dash rather than a guess.

Read: a confirmed airstrike by State Actor A on a military structure. Colour first (who), then shape (what), arc or wave (air or sea), inner glyph (against what), corner (how sure).

The actor position resolves against the battlespace's own actor roster, so the same report can attribute differently under different rosters — deliberately. Units and actors themselves are drawn with NATO-standard military symbology; the ESC code belongs to events alone.

02 — The credibility ladder

From a single report to a confirmed event.

Confidence is graded, and it is earned. Every intel item carries a validity score from 0.0 to 1.0; every cluster of items describing the same real-world event climbs a five-rung credibility ladder as genuinely independent corroboration accumulates.

TIER 1

Report

A single source. Also the hard ceiling for anything carrying a confirmed deception flag, however many "sources" repeat it.

TIER 2

Indicator

A few independent sources align on the same event.

TIER 3

Credible

Many independent sources align — independence checked, not assumed.

TIER 4

Near-confirmed

Extensive corroboration, or strong corroboration that includes high-reliability sources.

TIER 5

Confirmed

An analyst has verified the evidence chain. The verdict is recorded — who, on what evidence, at what time.

Corroboration counts distinct, independent sources — ten copies of one press release are one source. Where coordination is detected, a deception flag forces the cluster back to REPORT: no volume of manufactured consensus can promote a claim the system believes is being gamed. And however well a machine scores an item, the top rung is reached only when a person signs off.

03 — Why it matters

One language, end to end.

A battlespace can hold thousands of events. Standardised symbology lets an analyst scan a dense map and separate a confirmed strike on infrastructure from an unverified clash at a checkpoint without opening a single record.

No ambiguity

Every marker carries its full code. There is no version where "the red triangle" means different things in different theatres.

Provenance intact

The code sits on top of the evidence chain, never in place of it. Behind every symbol are the items, sources, and scores that produced it.

Consistent across teams

A new analyst reads the same symbology as the team that built the picture. The scheme lives in the platform, not in anyone's head.

Survives the handoff

When the picture moves from analyst to commander to partner organisation, the code travels with it and keeps its meaning.

Audit-ready

Status and credibility tier are recorded with every change, so the picture is a timestamped record rather than just a current view.

Redundant by design

Who, what, domain, target, and status are carried by colour, shape, modifier, glyph, and corner — meaning never rests on colour alone.
